How to check Azerbaijan visa status online
The only place that runs an Azerbaijan visa check is ASAN Visa, the government's official electronic visa portal at evisa.gov.az, run by the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of Azerbaijan. Its check status page gives three ways in, depending on what you kept from your application.
- Open evisa.gov.az/en/check-status using the button below, on the official site.
- Pick a tab: By Registration Number, By Email Address, or By Passport Number.
- Fill in the fields that tab asks for (see the table below for each one).
- Type the Verification code shown in the image, refreshing it if it is unreadable.
- Select Continue to read your result.

Azerbaijan visa check by passport number: what ASAN eVisa needs
An Azerbaijan visa check by passport number alone will not work on the official portal, and that catches people out. The system treats your passport as one part of a pair, matched against either your e-visa number or your email address, never as a search key on its own.
If you applied yourself, search your inbox for the ASAN Visa confirmation, since the registration number or e-visa number in that email is the fastest route in. If someone else applied on your behalf, for example a travel agent, ask them for the reference before you try the passport-only options.
How to check if your Azerbaijan visa is original or fake
A genuine Azerbaijan e-visa always exists as a live record on evisa.gov.az, matches the exact fee the portal charges, and is a formatted A4 document with a machine-readable code in the top right corner, built to the ICAO Document 9303 standard used for travel documents worldwide. If any of those three things are missing, do not treat the visa as confirmed.
Run the check status page yourself rather than trusting a forwarded PDF or a travel agent's word. A real e-visa always returns a matching result there, because the portal is the single source that issues and records it.

Paid a third party a fee well above 29 US dollars, or through an address that is not evisa.gov.az? Confirm the resulting visa on the official check status page before you travel. If it does not appear there, it was not issued by the Azerbaijani government, whatever the document looks like.
Azerbaijan e-visa check: reading your status result
A completed check status search returns where your application stands: still under review, approved, or rejected, next to the application date and the passport it was filed under. An approved result is your confirmation that the e-visa exists and was issued; a rejected one is normally followed by an email explaining why.
The exact wording on screen can be refined by ASAN Visa over time, so read the label the portal shows for your own case rather than relying only on this description. If your details do not match your travel document exactly, the portal itself warns that a mismatched e-visa may not let you enter, so recheck spelling and passport numbers before you fly.
Azerbaijan eVisa fees and how long it takes
ASAN Visa publishes one fee structure and two processing speeds, and both apply regardless of how many times you check status afterwards, since checking is free.

The card used to pay does not need to be in your own name, but your passport should stay valid for at least 3 months beyond the e-visa's expiry, and you should apply at least 3 working days before you plan to travel.
Do Saudi and GCC citizens need an Azerbaijan visa check?
Not always, and this depends on citizenship, not on where you live. From 15 February 2026 to 15 February 2027, citizens of Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain can enter Azerbaijan visa free up to 3 times a year, staying up to 30 days each visit. A 4th entry inside that year needs a valid visa.
This applies to the nationality on your passport, not your iqama (إقامة), the residence permit and national ID number issued to a foreign resident of Saudi Arabia. A large share of Saudi-based travellers hold a passport from a different country, and their nationality decides whether they need an e-visa at all. Anyone outside the exempt list still applies and checks status the normal way, using their own passport's country against the portal's eligible-country list.
If ASAN Visa shows no application, or your e-visa is rejected
A blank result is almost always a typo, not a lost application. Work through these before contacting support.
- No application found: recheck every character of your registration or e-visa number, then try the email plus passport tab instead.
- Rejected: read the reason emailed to you. Common causes are a mismatch between the application and your passport, or missing supporting information.
- Paid but no confirmation: wait for the standard 3 working day window before assuming the payment failed, then contact ASAN Visa through the official portal's contact page.
