Kuwait visa check: the new eVisa
If you are running a Kuwait visa check today, the portal has moved. Kuwait Visa (kuwaitvisa.moi.gov.kw) is the Ministry of Interior's newer eVisa platform, and the site many search results still point to, evisa.moi.gov.kw, is no longer reachable. This guide covers the current status flow, who can actually use the new eVisa including the GCC resident route, and what the platform does not cover.

How to check your Kuwait visa status online
Kuwait Visa does not put a bare passport number search box on its homepage. You check status two ways instead: inside the account you applied with, or through the official Kuwait Visa app, which the portal itself names as the way to check a visa status.
Route A: from your Kuwait Visa account
- Open kuwaitvisa.moi.gov.kw using the button below.
- Select Sign-in in the top right corner.
- Enter the login details you set when you created your account and submitted the application.
- Open the application from your dashboard.
- Read its stage: approved, in progress, or rejected.
You enter your details on kuwaitvisa.moi.gov.kw, the government site, not here. You sign in and read your own application. No passport or visa number is typed on this page.
Route B: the Kuwait Visa app
- Install Kuwait Visa from the App Store or Google Play, the links the official homepage itself gives for a status check.
- Sign in with the same account you used to apply.
- Open your application to see its current status.
What is the Kuwait Visa platform?
Kuwait Visa is the Ministry of Interior's official site for applying for, and tracking, entry visas to Kuwait. It is run by the Information Systems Directorate of the Ministry of Interior, State of Kuwait, and its own footer still labels it a beta build at the time we checked.
That beta label matters for a Kuwait visa check, because it means fields, wording and even the domain can shift with little notice. The platform works through an account: you register, build a profile, submit a visa application, then track it, rather than filling a one-off public form.
The older address many guides still quote, evisa.moi.gov.kw, returned a firewall connection error when we tested it directly. Treat any Kuwait visa check guide built around that domain, or around a plain passport-number search box, as describing a system that no longer runs. Which Kuwait visa types does the platform cover?
Kuwait Visa issues four visa categories, and each one is a single-entry visit permit, not a residence or work status. This table sets out the exact rules shown on the portal for each type.

Every category bars the holder from working, and the holder must leave once the stay period ends. Fees and processing times are not shown until you sign in and start an application, so we have not guessed a figure here. See the exact number on the portal before you pay.
Who can use the new Kuwait eVisa?
Eligibility runs on nationality, so the first step inside any application is a Select Nationality field: your country decides whether Kuwait Visa offers you an eVisa at all, and on what terms. The table below summarises the routes we could confirm.

The GCC resident route: visa on arrival without a profession test
If you hold residency in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Oman or Bahrain, and it has at least six months left, reported policy since 10 August 2025 lets you get a Kuwait tourist visa on arrival, or apply for the eVisa in advance, regardless of your profession.
That is a real change from the rule it replaced. Before August 2025, GCC-resident applicants needed an approved profession, such as doctor, engineer, lawyer, judge, professor or business executive, to qualify. Kuwaiti and international press reported that profession test was dropped for GCC residents, though the nationality exclusions in the table above still apply even under the GCC route.
We could not find this exact rule spelled out in plain text on the Kuwait Visa homepage itself, only inside the nationality-driven application flow, so treat it as the reported current scope rather than a guaranteed outcome. Does the Kuwait eVisa cover a work visa?
No. Every category on Kuwait Visa is a visit permit that bars the holder from working, so a search for a Kuwait work visa check online usually means something else entirely: an employment residence permit, which an employer arranges through Kuwait's separate residency process, not through this eVisa platform.
We have not verified the steps for that separate employer-led residency and civil ID process, so we are not describing them here rather than guess. If your employer sponsors your move to Kuwait, ask them which portal they use for your residence permit, since it is not kuwaitvisa.moi.gov.kw.
Kuwait visa check by passport number: what is actually possible
Many people search for a Kuwait visa check by passport number expecting a single public box, like some other Gulf portals offer. The current Kuwait Visa platform does not work that way.
- Your passport number is entered when you fill in the application, then read back to you inside your signed-in account, not typed into an open search box.
- Your application or visa number works the same way: it lives in your account and the confirmation email, and the app reads it once you sign in.
- A visa forwarded by someone else cannot be safely checked from the outside. Ask the person who applied to open their own account or app and confirm the approved status themselves.

How do I check my Kuwait visa status online?
Sign in to the account you used to apply on kuwaitvisa.moi.gov.kw and open your application to see its stage. The portal itself also directs applicants to the official Kuwait Visa app, on iPhone and Android, as the way to check the visa status once you have applied.
Can I check a Kuwait visa by passport number without an account?
Not on the current platform. Kuwait Visa does not publish a standalone box where anyone can type a bare passport number and see a result. Your passport number is entered as part of your own application, so a status check needs your sign-in, not just the number.
Is there a Kuwait visa check by visa number?
The reference number generated when you submit your application works the same way as your passport number: it is read inside your signed-in account or the Kuwait Visa app, not through a public lookup page. Keep the confirmation email that carries it.
How do I know if a Kuwait eVisa is genuine or fake?
Check it inside the account or app that issued it, rather than trusting a forwarded PDF or screenshot. A genuine eVisa shows a status of approved inside your own Kuwait Visa account. If someone sends you a visa you did not apply for yourself, treat it as unverified.
Can GCC residents get a Kuwait visa on arrival?
Reported policy since 10 August 2025 lets residents of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain get a Kuwait tourist visa on arrival, or apply online, if their GCC residency has at least six months left, regardless of profession. Confirm your case on the portal before travelling.
Does the Kuwait eVisa cover a work visa?
No. The tourist, family, business and government categories on Kuwait Visa are entry and visit permits, and the visa holder is barred from working on them. A Kuwait employment residence permit is a separate process arranged by the employer, not something this platform issues or checks.
What happened to the old Kuwait eVisa website?
The legacy address, evisa.moi.gov.kw, returned a firewall and connection error when we last checked it. Many older guides still link to it. The live, working Ministry of Interior platform is kuwaitvisa.moi.gov.kw, the one this page covers.
