Each member state's consulate outsources submissions to VFS Global, BLS International or TLScontact, so the right site for an Italy visa check is different from the right site for France or Germany. How to check Schengen visa status, whichever country you applied to
There is no single Schengen visa check website, because the Schengen area is not one government. Each of the 29 member states runs its own consulate in Saudi Arabia, and most hand the paperwork, biometrics and status updates to a private outsourcing partner: VFS Global, BLS International or TLScontact. That partner's own portal, not a generic "Schengen tracker", is where you check schengen visa status.
The practical fix is simple once you know it. Work out which provider your destination country uses in Saudi Arabia, register on that provider's site with the reference number from your appointment receipt, and check status there. The table above lists seven commonly searched countries; the principle holds for the other Schengen states too.
Italy visa check: track your application with VFS Global
The Italian Embassy in Riyadh and the Consulate General in Jeddah both route Schengen applications through VFS Global visa application centres in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam. For an Italy visa status check, register on the VFS Global Italy portal for Saudi Arabia using the application reference number on your receipt.
Searches for an "Italy visa check by passport number" are common, but the portal itself is built around the reference number, with your passport number as a second matching field rather than a standalone search. Applicants under Jeddah's jurisdiction who apply directly with the consulate instead of VFS should check status through the consulate's own email channel, since VFS only tracks files submitted at its centres.
How to check France visa status from Saudi Arabia
France also uses VFS Global in Saudi Arabia, with centres in Riyadh, Jeddah and Al Khobar serving the French Embassy in Riyadh and the Consulate General in Jeddah. To check France visa status, sign in to the VFS Global France portal for Saudi Arabia with your reference number.
If you applied online through the France Visas system (france-visas.gouv.fr) before attending VFS for biometrics, that same account also shows a status view. Two logins can both be correct at once: one for the application record, one for where your passport physically sits.
How to check Germany visa status with TLScontact
Germany is the exception on this page: its Schengen applications from Saudi Arabia go through TLScontact rather than VFS Global, mainly at the Riyadh centre, after the Jeddah centre for Germany closed in 2024. To check Germany visa status, log in to the TLScontact Germany portal for Saudi Arabia with the account you set up when you booked your appointment.
TLScontact's status screen tracks logistics, such as whether biometrics are recorded and whether a decided passport has reached the centre for collection. It does not show the consulate's actual decision before you are notified, so a blank or unchanged status does not mean your application has stalled.

Keep your receipt until your passport is back in hand. Losing the reference number is the most common reason a schengen visa status check fails, and most centres will not re-issue it by phone.
Applying for a Schengen visa while living in Saudi Arabia on residency? Check your own exit re-entry visa (تأشيرة خروج وعودة), the permit a resident needs to leave Saudi Arabia and return on the same iqama, issued as a single-entry or multiple-entry visa for a set number of days, before you book. Is ETIAS live yet? The current status
Not yet, as of the date we last checked this page. The European Union's official ETIAS site had pointed to the last quarter of 2026, but that date has since been removed from the site, and reporting around it points to a launch pushed into 2027 instead. No confirmed start date exists at the time of writing; the EU says it will announce one several months ahead of going live.
ETIAS will not change anything on this page when it launches. It is a pre-travel screening for nationalities that can already enter the Schengen area without a visa, not a replacement for the Schengen visa applications and checks covered here. If you need a Schengen visa today, you still apply and track it through VFS Global, BLS International or TLScontact as above; ETIAS has no bearing on that process. Check the official EU page linked in the sources below before you rely on any third-party site claiming to register ETIAS applications now, since none can, before it launches.
How long a Schengen visa takes, and what to do if yours is delayed
Under the Schengen Visa Code (Regulation (EC) No 810/2009, Article 23), a consulate must decide on a complete application within 15 calendar days. That period can be extended to 30 days in individual cases, and, exceptionally, to 60 days when extra documents are requested. These are legal maximums, not typical waits, and busy travel seasons commonly push real processing toward the longer end.
If your tracker has shown no change for well beyond these windows, the visa application centre cannot tell you the decision, only the consulate can. Contact the consulate for your destination country directly, quoting your reference number, rather than repeatedly refreshing the tracker.
