Does a Saudi visa validity check count from the issue date or the entry date?
Most confusion around a saudi visa validity check comes from one thing: a visa carries two separate clocks, not one. The validity window, the period during which you are allowed to use or enter on the visa, is counted from its issue date. The permitted stay, once you have crossed the border, is counted from your entry date. These are different numbers, on the same document.
A well-known example is the Saudi tourist eVisa. It is commonly issued as a multiple-entry visa valid for around a year from issue, while each individual stay inside the Kingdom is limited to up to around 90 days from the date you enter. So “90 days” can answer two different questions depending on which clock you mean. For a resident’s exit re-entry visa (تأشيرة خروج وعودة), the same split applies: the window to travel is set from issue, and any stay abroad is capped separately. The exact number of days on your visa is set by whoever issued it, so always read the figure printed on your own visa or shown in the portal result rather than assuming a fixed number.

Why the Hijri date matters for a Saudi visa check
Saudi government systems, including Muqeem and Absher, often display or stamp dates using the Umm al-Qura Hijri calendar alongside, or instead of, the Gregorian one. An expiry shown as a Hijri date can look confusing if you only think in Gregorian months, and a day or two of miscounting between the two calendars is a common reason people believe a visa has more time left than it does.

Common errors when you check saudi visa validity online
A wrong result is nearly always a data-entry issue rather than a broken system. This table lists the error messages people report most, and what usually causes each one.

None of these checks can be fixed from a third-party website. Only your sponsor or the Jawazat (الجوازات) can correct a record that looks genuinely wrong. If your check shows an expired exit re-entry visa and you are outside the Kingdom, contact your employer before you try to travel back.

Is a visa validity check online in KSA free?
Yes. Muqeem, Absher and the MOFA Visa Platform charge nothing to look up a visa record. Some private “visa check” websites charge a fee or ask for extra details; only official government domains such as muqeem.sa and absher.sa are needed for a genuine check.
Does Saudi visa validity count from the issue date or the entry date?
Both dates matter, for different things. The window to use or enter on the visa is usually counted from its issue date. The length of a permitted stay, once you have entered, is usually counted from your entry date. Read the exact wording on your own visa or its portal result, since it varies by visa type.
How do I check visa expiry date in Saudi Arabia without an Absher account?
Muqeem accepts a public lookup with your iqama or visa number without a personal Absher login, though it may ask for a Muqeem or Nafath sign-in. If you cannot sign in anywhere, ask your employer or sponsor, since they hold the company account that issued most residents’ visas.
Why does eserve or a visa validity check online tool ask for my passport number?
Government portals match a visa record using two details together, such as an iqama or visa number plus a passport number or date of birth, to confirm the record belongs to you. This page never asks for those numbers; you type them only on the official portal in its own tab.
What does “not valid” or “no data found” mean on a Saudi visa expiry check?
“Not valid” usually means the visa has expired or been cancelled. “No data found” usually means a digit was mistyped, or the visa has not yet loaded into the system. Recheck each number carefully, try the other identifier, and contact your sponsor or the Jawazat if the result still looks wrong.
